Project Description Region: Africa Country: South Africa Location: Pretoria Total Budget: $150,000 Area of Focus: The environment Lack of knowledge of the significant role of bees in the ecosystem by the general populace. In addition, poverty can be alleviated through honey production. Climate Change is affecting many agricultural enterprises and thus small scale farmers will learn how to integrate climate change adaptation strategies enabled by planting honey bee friendly plants that are also friendly for the environment, by sinking carbon emissions. The duration of the project is five years and the funds will be used for the following: Supplying rural women and youth with sustainable beehives; protective clothing, and tools of the trade Training project participants on the fundamentals of beekeeping Setting up food forests for the benefit of bees and poor communities Primary Host Partner District: 9400 Rotary Club of: E-Club of Southern Africa D9400 Primary Contact: Annemarie Mostert Email: annemarie@rotary9400.org.za Primary International Partner We are looking for a Club partner.
