Sathakodu Watershed Project
Situated at the foothills of Nallamala RF.
Border village of both Prakasam and Palnadu districts.
528 families living in the village, out of which 187 belongs to SC and 213 BC.
All the above farmers are having land at the foothills and they are sloped lands.
As the lands are sloppy in nature, fertility soil on the top is getting washed away due to the velocity of runoff water during rains.
Lack of knowledge among the villagers on soil and moisture conservation and its importance.
Total village depending on ground water for their domestic and irrigation needs.
Ground water table is deteriorating year by year as there is mismatched management recharge versus withdrawal of ground water.
With all the above reasons, farming became uneconomical and people are migrating to another areas for their survival.
