Project Reach: Responsive Educational ACCESS for Special Children at Home (REACH)
Our club, Rotary Tirupur Prime has come up with another path-breaking project "Project
Reach" to cater for the education needs of special children in our district. As you're aware, we have completed various signature projects across districts that gained a good public image in the past. We have completed many notable projects in areas like education,
community development, and healthcare avenues at a total cost of $300,000 USD. We have
also signed multiple MoUs with the government of Tamilnadu for the execution and
sustainable maintenance of the above-said projects. Now, we are here to achieve another
milestone by addressing a much-needed requirement for children with special needs.
About Project Reach:
Studies have shown that 1 in every 60 children is born with disabilities such as autism,
dyslexia, cerebral palsy, ADHD etc., in Tamilnadu. But there are only a few schools to treat, educate and support such children. Education must be available to all sections of people and no one should be left behind, and we had initiated steps towards achieving this goal.
We noticed that many special kids in our district don't have access to education, treatment,
and care. Our study points us that special children have limited access to education & care
due to lack of commutation, the high cost of education/treatment etc. We have conducted a
detailed need assessment and the same has been attached. We also noticed that Enhancement of special children's education is not at best because of limited skilled teachers.
Our club is interested in making their need come true through "Project Reach" providing
access to education, creating a direct impact, and ensuring no child is left behind. Our plan is to provide education & care at the beneficiary's door step (home region) with state of art education/care vehicle. The vehicle will be designed specifically for intellectually challenged kids suffering from Autism, Cerebral palsy, Dyslexia, ADHD, etc and will be equipped with Built-in Assistive technologies, special adaptive equipment, seats, visual projectors, learning materials, and therapy equipment. In addition, teachers and staff will be trained for this project. Currently, we have identified 10 home regions and 300+ children can be benefitted from this initiative.
The project cost of the project is $48,000 USD for 1 vehicle Our club contribution is $10,000 USD to the rotary foundation for this project and has aim to raise $9000 USD from other clubs. Also, we have plans to raise USD 10,000 in the from of international contributions. Our district has committed to providing USD 8000 as DDF. This project will yield a better public image for Rotary across the state of Tamil Nadu which in turn, will motivate others to donate more to such good causes.
Project will be completed within a 8 months of approval. Maintenance and execution of this project will be carried out by our technical Partner Sai Kirupa Educational Trust, a non-profit government recognised body who has wide range of experience in educating special children.
Kindly share your valuable input and let us know whether you would like to be part of this
noble project. We will be waiting for your positive response.
