In 2019, Minatitlan, Veracruz, was considered one of the 50 most insecure cities in the world, and nowadays is considered one of the most violent cities in the state of Veracruz. The Rotary Club Minatitlan and its international partners will work with young people (15-18 years old), teachers and parents from 4 public high schools in Minatitlan, to build positive peace, through training workshops on conflict resolution, Human rigths, Semiotics for life, among others; the making of 24 mural walls and intercultural exchanges with other countries, with support of the Institute of Economics and Peace and grafitti artists of the city, during a period from January to December 2023, to be continued for 5 more years.
From almost 8,000 beneficiaries students, we will select 32 teachers and 320 students to be "Champions for Peace"; each year 10 to 20 of them will go to the International partner country, in a Rotary Friendship Exchange, to train other young people in Peace and Conflict resolution for 4-5 days.
