The project will meet the need for information that pregnant and postpartum women need to know about the challenges of motherhood as well as about breastfeeding. In this way, to awaken the interest of breastfeeding mothers in donating breast milk, which will be sent to the milk bank for pasteurization and distribution to babies admitted to the Neonatal ICU of Hospital Santa Casa de Campo Mourão.

Currently, babies hospitalized in rooming-in units and the ICU who have been prescribed the use of a supplement by the doctor receive industrialized formula, with an increase in pasteurized milk, these babies would benefit from breast milk until discharge.

There are periods such as vacation months and festivities, extended holidays and winter months when there is a drop in breast milk donations, requiring the use of industrialized infant formula also in the Neonatal ICU. As most babies are premature, even though the formula is specific for this purpose, it is common for babies to have intolerance to the formula, with symptoms such as vomiting, gastrointestinal discomfort, abdominal distension, diarrhea and even gastroenteritis, which rarely occurs when babies are feeding on pasteurized breast milk.

The population having more knowledge through campaigns and periodic lectures in groups of pregnant women and disclosure in maternity hospitals in the municipalities where the collection points will be implemented, there will be an increase in breast milk donors, in this way there will be more milk to be pasteurized and distributed not only in the Neonatal ICU, but also for babies who are in rooming-in.

Provide the schedule for implementing your project. (Add other lines as needed)
