Project Description Region: Central America Country: Guatemala Location: Dept. of Totonicapán Total Budget: $140,000 Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene The community has had a deep water well for 13 years that has never been connected. Population growth and declining spring production means that residents now get piped water to their homes only a few hours per week. The local municipality is installing a new flow line to connect this well to an existing but unused uphill concrete distribution tank. This project will rebuild the old, leaky, existing distribution system, add a chlorination system, provide operation and maintenance training for community members, and provide WASH training for a group of leaders who would then have the ability to train others in the community on an ongoing basis.
