Project Description

Region: Africa

Country: Zimbabwe

Location: Zimbabwe Africa

Total Budget: $80,058

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Hello Fellow Rotarians from around the world. The request for assistance at Chidobe Secondary School and Teachers Living Quarters is the final funding needed to complete this beautiful school campus in the rural bush of Zimbabwe, Africa. Gib Leonard, Founding Director of the Buy a Brick Foundation and a Rotarian out of the Washington DC Club #7620 has been working in Zimbabwe for 20 years. The Last Phase of this Two School Block and Two Teachers Living Quarters blocks is to bring Electricity to these buildings and to a third school block that needs to be constructed do to the demand for higher education in the rural bush areas. In the past Secondary schooling was NOT TO BE as there were no secondary schools or High Schools anywhere around. The Buy a Brick Foundation has donated $80,435usd and has built this school from foundation to roof. This School needs $9,588 for the electricity project and $29,638 for an additional school block. The organization that committed to providing the piping, tubing and the final hookup for the electricity has gone out of business. We need to raise $39,558.00 to provide the Teachers and Students with the room and electricity that they need to learner at the highest level possible.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
