Project Description Region: Asia Country: Nepal Location: Hetauda Total Budget: $36,500 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Hetauda Community Eye Hospital , a branch of Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology has been providing comprehensive quality eye care to the people of Makwanpur and its surrounding districts since its establishment in November 2008.Around 300 patients come to the hospital for eye checkup everyday. The hospital has General Clinic , Extended Clinic,Sub-specialty Clinic, 24 Hour Emergency Service and surgery services that includes following surgery : 1.Cataract Surgery : Phacoemulasification and Small Incision Cataract Surgery 2.Oculoplastic Surgery 3.Glaucoma Surgery 4.Intravitreal Avastin Injection 5.Pterygium excision and autologous graft The hospital has provided the services at nominal prices . In hospital , out of 300 patients ,30-40 patients are glaucoma patients (optic nerve damage from fluid buildup in their eye) which is also second leading cause of blindness in the world. The hospital has only one Humphrey Visual Field Machine which is 9 years old and giving problem in treatment . The life of this kind of machine is 9-10 years so this hospital needs one new machine for smooth treatment of the glaucoma patients. This project benefit more than 10,000 glaucoma patients every year . The fund for this project will be used to buy Humphrey Visual Field Machine and training associated with it. Rotary Club of Makwanpur will be involved in fundraising ,project implementation and monitoring.
