Greetings from Rotary Club of Poona Midtown!
Rotary Club of Poona Midtown is an international service organisation, working for the betterment of underprivileged and orphanages, by uplifting their living conditions and providing them with basic amenities like clean drinking water, sanitation, basic education & health care facilities. In line with it we have done many humanitarian projects in and near Pune city. We have installed 2 Dialysis machines in Sanjeevan Hospital in 2011, to provide treatment to financially weaker & under privileged patients at subsidized rates. Hundreds of patients have benefitted in last 10 years.
This project's objective is to expand and upgrade the capability of an Ophthalmic unit at one reputable charitable hospital so that BPL patients get treatment at affordable cost. The beneficiaries of the project will be the families, most of whom are from the lower economic strata of the city's population. The host club has identified Seth Tarachand Ramnath Charitable Hospital to upgrade the capacity of an existing Ophthalmic unit at the hospital and further improve its capability by modernizing certain critical existing equipment.
SETH TARACHAND RAMNATH CHARITABLE AYURVEDIC HOSPITAL TRUST established in year 1926 has provided healthcare services at affordable cost to the poor segments of the community through its hospital for 95 years. The Trust's Tilak Ayurvedic College - an Ayurvedic Medical College supports this hospital. The medical college has a post-graduation facility whose resident doctors are always available to the hospital. Institute offers allopathic as well as Ayurvedic treatments. Surgeries are conducted successfully in the hospital in all departments except Cardiac and Oncology. It is 6 nos. equipped operation theatres. It runs the Dialysis centre equipped with 11 Dialysis machines. Dialysis treatment cost is almost 20 % of the cost in private hospitals. The hospital in the heart of Old Pune City is near the city's rail station and Sassoon Hospital. It is surrounded by 5 of the city's biggest neighbourhoods' of BPL community. The Hospital Trust is fully supportive of the project and has assured full cooperation through the hospital for the sustainable operation of the equipment provided by Rotary over the next minimum 10 years. They also provide same kind of support in other departments also. To increase the reach of the diagnosis and operative treatment in ophthalmic department, we have planned to donate equipments to overcome various problems faced by them in the OPD/OT of Ophthalmology Department of Tarachand Hospital.
The total project cost is USD 69000. We need to raise USD 41000 and balance USD 28000 will be contributed by overseas Rotary Clubs and Rotary International.
