Remoted area in Probolinggo would be helped by a better mountain road. Today the road is very bad. still, 1700 village people now are using this stony and rocky road more students can go to school, and hoping that a junior high school can be built if the road is renovated. Now, there is only primary school up there in Village of Tersono, Lumbang.In the year 2005 we, Rotary Club of Surabaya Timur joined with RC Rotenburg from Germany conducted a joint water project to help a poor mountaineous area especially at dry season,called Lumbang, Tersono, Rogobono, Sari Rejo villages in Probolinggo.east Java. And in September 2012 , a team from WASRAG made a survey about water project in this area. We, RC Surabaya Timur escorted the WASRAG team again to this area. The water source was a bit dry, but the population still depend on the water project we have done. And, we noticed that what they need most now is : The proper road in the mountaineous area. When we asked one of the village officers up there, if they had a better road, this would surely make a better level economic of the residents. Now, we prove by ourselves that the road was really really terrible.stony, rocky road. We could reach that area just by motorbike, and we felt it was soo dangerous. Now this road is used by about 1700 village residents. Because of this terrible road, the 3 classes primary school got lack of students.they just have about 60 students and there is no junior highschool, as too risky to walk to school. and it is difficult to find teachers and to make contact with upper government officials. this area becomes remoted because of the condition of the road. Also, this rocky road is used as a way of transportation of some small potatoes and peanuts farmers . We need a matching grant to renovate the road to be proper to improve the economic and life of the residents up the mountain. For the first project, we need about US $ 50,000 for making about 3000m road. And,later, I also do wish to have some more grants to make a safer place for the human being over there, esp from landslide, which sometimes happen when rainy season.
