Project Description

Region: Central America

Country: Guatemala

Location: San Jacinto, Guatemala

Total Budget: $35,000

Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene

The San Jacinto, Guatemala municipal staff has identified the need for potable water distribution systems for three small rural communitites. Through past Matching Grants, we have already completed four of these water systems from 2007-2011. Current water testing indicate all of these past projects are operating effectively. Each of the new communities have agreed to do all non-technical labor for these projects and establish maintenance funds for future problems. Bids have been obtained for all materials to be used for these three water distribution systems. The Rotary Club of Fort Collins will provide half, $5,000, of the needed $10,000 for a Global Grant and is looking for partner clubs to help.
