One does not need to be a doctor to save lifes.Doctors equipped with top technology ICU equipments can save lifes.Cukurova University ( a land grant university) Hospital built and still providing healthcare services with 1980's technology at Newborn Intensive Care Unit to the community is in need of new equipments to replace 33 years old equipments to improve the quality of healtcare given to the community. Newborn Intensive care units (ICU), are sections within a hospital that look after newborn whose conditions are life-threatening and need constant, close monitoring and support from equipment and medication to keep normal body functions going. They have higher levels of staffing, specialist monitoring and treatment equipment only available in these areas and the staff are highly trained in caring for the most severely ill patients.

The Newborn ICU management at the University Hospital is carried out by a Rapid Action team who are specialists of ICU intervening to the Newborns and directly linked with the doctors. The Newborn ICU was designed to serve the patients from the regional hospital since being a central reference hospital. The very high running costs and fixed equipment costs small hospıtals can not open Newborn ICU by themselves therefore the Newborns patients are tranported when it is found essential to place the Newborns who do need ICU.

The current activity barrier is the lack of 7 pieces of Newborn Incubators.
