Summary
This Global Grant initiative aligns with two key Areas of Focus:
Community and Economic Development
Peace building and Conflict Prevention (by integrating vulnerable youth into society through skill-building and economic opportunities)
The project will establish a digital design training program for orphaned and abandoned children at Mia's Children, as well as Roma youth supported by the Împreună Community Development Agency Foundation. It will provide professional workforce skills, financial literacy, and weekly therapy sessions to foster self-esteem, address trauma, and build resilience-equipping participants to thrive both economically and socially.
Identified Needs
Lack of viable employment pathways for vulnerable youth, especially those from orphanages or marginalized Roma communities.
Limited access to technology and structured digital training that connects to the modern workforce.
Persistent trauma and low self-confidence from histories of exclusion, homelessness, or abuse.
Systemic exclusion of Roma and marginalized children from educational and economic opportunities.
How the Project Meets These Needs
Digital Design Training: Provides marketable skills in web design, social media content creation, and digital art.
Financial Literacy: Trains participants to manage income, budgeting, and entrepreneurship for long-term stability.
Therapeutic Support: Licensed weekly therapy sessions build confidence, emotional resilience, and capacity to engage fully in learning.
Structured Access to Technology: New computers, software, and internet access will give youth the tools needed to create professional work.
Community Integration: Partnerships with design hubs and incubators in Bucharest will connect participants to real-world opportunities.
Timeline
Phase 1 (Months 1-12): Training for 30-40 youth aged 18+ in digital design and financial management, with weekly therapy support.
Phase 2 (Months 13-24): Expansion to younger participants (ages 12-17), introducing them to creative digital expression and early workforce readiness.
Ongoing: Annual assessments, project showcases, and linkages with local design studios to create internship/apprenticeship opportunities.
