Need: In Palghar's tribal villages, heavy monsoon rains last about three months, but water is scarce in the dry season because the higher elevation and permeable soil cause rainwater to drain away.
Project Goal: Build farm ponds in Palghar's tribal villages to provide reliable water for irrigation, fish farming, and livestock. This supports agriculture, food security, and tribal farmers' livelihoods.
Key Objectives:
Water Conservation: Collect rainwater using scientifically designed farm ponds.
Efficient Irrigation: Maintain water supply for Kharif and Rabi crops.
Livelihoods: Boost farmer income through vegetable and cash crop cultivation.
Fishery: Support small-scale fish farming for extra food and earnings.
Sustainability: Build climate resilience and reduce migration needs.
Community: Organize farmer groups to manage water resources together.
