Project Description Region: South-East Asia Country: India Location: Darhal Malkan Total Budget: $200,000 Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy, Community economic development To establish an Eye Hospital in Darhal Malikan, one of remotest areas in north-west Jammu and Kashmir State (in border district Rajouri)in India. Hundereds of thousands people in border districts (Rajouri and Poonch), especially extremely poor and needy masses, who can't afford to go far in Jammu or Srinagar for eye care/operation shall benefit from this hospital. The proposed Eye hospital shall hopefully be housed in old building of Sub-District Hospital in Darhal. The concerned authorties have agreed in principle to fully co-operate to set up this hospital, first of its kind in twin border districts bordering Pakistan.
