Project Description

Region: Asia

Country: India

Location: Bangalore

Total Budget: $86,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

This Global Grant project aims to establish a fully equipped Computer Learning Lab for students of a High School and PU College in Bangalore to enhance digital literacy, improve access to technology-enabled education, and equip students with essential skills required for higher education, competitive examinations, and future employment opportunities.

A detailed needs assessment conducted jointly by Rotary members, school management, faculty, students, and community representatives identified a major gap in access to modern computer education facilities. Many students, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, have limited exposure to computers, digital learning platforms, coding, office productivity tools, internet research, and emerging technologies that are increasingly essential in today academic and professional environment.

The project will address these needs by establishing a modern computer laboratory equipped with computers, networking systems, power backup, internet connectivity, furniture, educational software, and digital learning resources. The lab will support structured computer education for High School and PU College students and will also enable access to online learning platforms, career guidance resources, skill development programs, and competitive examination preparation.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
