PTuberculosis (TB) is the biggest infectious disease killer in
the world, resulting in 1.5 million deaths annually and almost
10 million new cases each year. One of four people in the
world is infected with TB. Tuberculosis is preventable and
curable and yet, 46 Nepali people die of TB unnecessarily
every single day. One of the major challenges for TB
programs is the lack of qualified radiologists in remote
communities who can read chest X-rays to diagnose TB.
Solution:
New AI-enabled ultra-portable chest X-rays can bring TB
screening to poor, vulnerable communities in Nepal. This project,
in collaboration with the Birat Nepal Medical Trust, will provide
this equipment which will make TB screening programs more
effective and feasible in remote vulnerable communities in Nepal.
Currently, only 50% of active TB cases in Nepal are being found
and treated.roblem:
