Our club Rotary Club of Pandaripuram (club No:24848) in R.I. Dist 3150 is doing yeoman service to the down trodden and socially backward people in our municipal area. We submit herewith the project details relating to literacy programe. As this project for the benefit of the children healing down trodden community in our area.
ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE CLUB:
Rotary club of Pandaripuram was charted in the year 1987. It has 74 active members at present and doing lot of community activities in district 3150. We are also one of the best active club in coastal district of RI dist 3150 and we have good reputation in implementing all projects in time. Our club has been undertaking lot of community activities like providing food to old age homes, conducting IOL operations free of cost, under taking women empowerment by providing sewing machines to needy women, giving milching animals to provide lively hood to poor agricultural families, conducting free medical camps and distributing medicines free of cost to poor people. Our club recently under took up a new project of constructing a bus shelter at Ganapavaram village on national high way.
PROJECT DETAILS:
Our club charted during the year 1987 and committed to serve the community through various service activities. We have identified some municipal schools situated chilakaluripet town, which do not have basic inftrastruture needed for schools and we wish to provide them school benches, tables and chairs and these schools are managed by local bodies like municipalities, which are constantly under economic resource crunch and enable to fulfil the needs of the schools. Our club earlier received Children Opportunity Grant (COG) during the year 1999-2000 and helped nearly 42 schools in and around Chilakaluripert. Our club has wide and extensive relation with the teaching community and so, we are able to identify the schools, which shown good academic record and maintain good atmosphere for learning. One of the schools by name Bharat Ratna indira Gandhi school has secured highest marks in in 10th Standard examinations for the last 3 years. Even the residential public schools are not able to compete with this school, even though they have very good infrastructure.

BENEFICIARIES:
The project we wish to undertake with assistance will benefit nearly 2500 children in nine municipal schools run by local municipalities in Pandaripuram area. Most of these school children belong to the families of agricultural labour and daily wage workers.In these schools our club has already undertaken so many activities like conducting games, quiz competitions, debating and drawing competitions, providing food at the time of examinations due to lack of infrastructural facilities these schools children not able to concentrate on education.
