Rafael Calzada RC is planning to implement a Human Milk Bank, established in the Hospital Lucio Melendez Almirante Brown's party.

The HMB is a specialized center, responsible for the promotion, support and protection of breastfeeding and the implementation of activities: collection, processing, quality control and distribution.

The main objective is to ensure that all newborns at risk or have early access to safe and adequate food to their species. It is estimated that births in the four public institutions in the Greater Buenos Aires Region (Almirante Brown Party: Lucio Melendez Hospital and Hospital Arturo Oñativia, Hospital Oller, and Gandulfo Hospital, the party of Lomas de Zamora) have between 8,000 and 10,000 births year, which should be added as many private sector. According to statistics, 3% of births for a child at risk who may be fed breast milk, donated by another mother.

Another secondary objective is to promote the creation of other HMB with the objective of creating the First network in Argentina, establishing protocols of excellence and integrated with the Human Milk Bank of La Plata (Regarding Dr. Gustavo Sager) and HMB Iber Red Iberoamericana (Aprigio Joao de Almeida).

To carry out our project will be necessary to equip the current "Breastfeeding Center" with the following items:

• Electric extractor pump

• Pasteurization

• Laminar flow hood

• Freezer and portable refrigerators

• Digital thermometers, glassware

• Air Conditioning

• Chairs and desks

• Improvement of existing bathroom

The approximate cost is U $ S 32 000
