Project Description Region: Asia Country: India Location: Purulia Total Budget: $45,648 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Purulia is a backward rural and poor area of West Bengal, India. Rotary Club of Purulia is working in the field of Eye Care as the savior since its inception on 1968 in this backward district of West Bengal with a motto of "Service Above Self". The present Eye Hospital - Rotary Club of Purulia Servie Centre was established in the year 1982. It has developed a lot in last 28 years and has introduced several services related to Eye Care. But still we feel that there are so many facilities remain to be introduced to the people of this rural backward area of West Bengal. One such service is the introduction of Diabetic Retinopathy for which people of this area has to travell a long distance to Kolkata or Chennai or Madurai. This service will be provided at Rotary Club of Purulia Service Centre - our Eye Hospital, by introducing Fundus Camera. This project will save their money as well as time. Fundus Camera is used to get the angiographic picture of retina. It shows vascular leakage, neogenesis of vessels, pigment dystrophy of retina. It is highly useful in Diabetic Retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, vascular retinopathy etc. Thus the people suffreing from the above mentioned problems will be benefited from this equipment at Rotary Club of Purulia Servie Centre.
