The goal of this project is to provide quality energy services in a sustainable, cost-effective and affordable manner to poor households in the rural neighborhoods of Nakuru. Specifically, this project will have the following activities:
•Installation of 400 family-size Biogas plants to carefully selected needy families within a period of one year;
•Production of high quality fertilizer obtained from Biogas slurry for improved agricultural production;
•Improved health and sanitation for rural women as Biogas technology replaces wood fuel use which is smoky and dangerous in the poorly ventilated houses in the targeted rural households. Additionally, Biogas technology helps in economical wastes' disposal hence improving environmental health.
•Reducing environmental degradation as trees are cut for fuel wood and charcoal production
•Training beneficiaries on Biogas digester maintenance including re-charging, health and sanitation.
