Project Description Region: Asia Country: Philippines Location: Tanauan Total Budget: $30,000 Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health The Rotary Club of Metro Tanauan in cooperation with the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines, Inc (FPOP), will provide a "Free Papsmear Service to Indigent Women/MOthers for 48 Barangays of Tanauan City, 30 Barangays of Sto. Tomas, and 21 Barangays of Laurel, all in the province of Batangas. The total beneficiaries of this project is 2800 indigent women/ mothers of these poor barangays. Our Club has received a Matching Grant from the Rotary Foundation last February 2011 for the 48 Barangays of Tanauan City. We are now in the last few barangays to finish off this project. This project is well received by the people and the nearby municipalities are requesting to implement this project in their area. For the 2nd time, we are again applying for a Matching Grant to implement the Papsmear Project this time to 3 areas: 48 Barangays of Tanauan City, 30 Barangays of Sto. Tomas, and 21 Barangays of Laurel, all in the Province of Batangas, Philippines.
