PREAMBLE:- The toilet blocks & filtered drinking water facilities are to be constructed in co-educational government rural schools on periphery of Chandigarh. Each toilet block will consist of 6 nos. toilets(3 for girls & 3 for boys). These are proposed to be constructed in 3 village schools.
Water coolers attached with water filter, is also proposed to be installed in the same schools.
Each school caters to 450-500 students. Children of economically weaker segment of society come to study here.
NEED:- There is a very high level of drop out from these schools, especially at senior class level, and drop out rate especially of females is even higher due to non availability of toilets. Lack of filtered water facility leads to illness & absentations.
SUSTAINABILITY:- An undertaking shall be obtained from the school management committee & also from village panchayat (elected village representatives) for upkeep & maintenance of these toilets & filtered drinking water facility.
INTERNATIONAL PARTNER:- The International Rotary Club partner will be up dated via photos & write up on the progress of the project, and also invited to visit and have first hand information on implementation of the project & also participate.
