Project Description Region: South-East Asia Country: Philippines Location: Provence of Capiz Total Budget: $46,600 Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene Water is life as we all know,In the scope of this project will purchase and install 200 new hand water pumps across the Provence of Capiz,Panay here in the Philippines this also includes the drilling of the wells and concrete washing and bathing areas around the pump stations.Many of the residents have to carry all their water and in some places up to 1 km.A lot of the school age children are late for classes because of this daily task.In some areas the only water source is rain water and there are times that it doesn't rain for up to two months during dry season. The Rotary Club of Metro Roxas will identify the most needy areas for installation of these pumps in areas where they will serve the most people schools,rural health offices,brgy halls, day care centers are a few examples.Upon completion each Brgy will oversee the maintenance and up keep of these pumps insuring that they will be in working order as the years go by.By placing these pumps in the most needy areas we will be insuring that the residents will have a clean source of water for their daily needs for many years to come.When fully financed this project will be completed in 2 months time so we are hoping for International Partners to join us in the "Service above Self" Dry season starts in March-April so we would like to have these pumps installed by the end of February 2014. The project will be maintained by the Brgy's where the pumps have been installed.Each Brgy will also sign a MOA(Memorandum of Agreement)with our club and the club will do periodic inspections of each location to insure that the MOA'S are being followed.
