INTRODUCTION: This project consists of the provision of portable water in select communities within Awka metropolis. Clean portable water is a basic necessity of life, in many parts of Anambra state safe drinking water is a scarce commodity as a result of the high cost of sinking a borehole in the area. People who could afford the digging of shallow water well sell it at a high cost while the poor masses resort to stream as source of drinking water. The recent discovery of corpses dumped at Ezu River which polluted the only source of drinking water drew the attention of the Rotary club of Awka GRA to the sufferings of the six communities living at the bank of the river.it is our intention to rescue vulnerable members of these communities and villages around Amansea from the high risk of water borne diseases that the Rotary Club of Awka GRA plans to provide portable water from boreholes for them.
