The bore hole will be used to supply water to Trinity Mission School and Children Home an orphans school, to over 42,500 Internally Displaced (IDlP's) living in camps as a results of 2007/2008 post election violence and over 35,540 local Masai communities.A total of 78,040 people will benefit from this project. The project will promote coexistence between the IDP's and the locals who have had continuous conflicts because of limited resources like water. It will also increase enrollment of children from Masai community who are used by their parents in fetching water for their animals.The project will reduce early marriages where children as young as twelve years are subjected to marriage. Women and girls trek for over ten miles in search of water.
Lack of nearby access to potable water has been a cause to -:
• Extensive treks to obtain water
• Lack of personal hygiene
• Water not used to clean dwelling
. Early marriages
. Low enrollment to schools especially the girl
. Conflict among the IDP's and the local Masai community.
• Bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections, resulting in diarrhea and other symptoms
The club will oversee the construction of the bore hole, water tank and piping. The locals will be involved in the management in order to enable them own the project.
