Project Description Region: Western Europe Country: Holland Location: Delft Total Budget: $180,500 Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Water, sanitation and hygiene, Community economic development View Online Proposal Form The purpose of this project is to provide for up to fifteen professionals from several Central Asian countries to attend a Water Symposium put on by UNESCO-IHE in Holland in February 2014. These countries face potentially catastrophic water issues in the region, both from the perspective of competing economically for limited water resources as well as the high risks associated with an earthen dam on the river in an earthquake zone. This symposium will bring key people together to discuss the issues, learn about alternatives and discuss possible solutions to the problems in the region. the balance of funs in this account will be used to support a scholar from Afghanistan in the Joint Program for Water Cooperation and Diplomacy. We are now planning on using the balance for a scholar in the 2018-19 academic year. 3-Sep-17 by Pam Russell No change at this point. Starting to look for a scholar for 2018-20. 16-Nov-17 by Steve Brown Balance of funds will be used to support scholar from Central Asian country or Afghanistan in Joint Water Cooperation and Diplomacy Program. Candidates are being solicited now for this scholarship 2-Feb-18 by Pam Russell We are now in the process of selecting a scholar for the Water & Cooperation Diplomacy program that will use the remaining funds. 16-Apr-18 by Pam Russell We have submitted a progress report and have selected a scholar. 2-Jul-18 by Pam Russell Nothing new to report at this time. Scholar will begin studies in August. 16-Sep-18 by Steve Brown Grant now supports a scholar from Afghanistan in Water Cooperation and Diplomacy program. Scholar is currently at the University for Peace in Costa Rica 3-Dec-18 by Pam Russell Our scholar is in transit from Costa Rica to Delft for the next segment of the studies. 19-Feb-19 by Pam Russell Our scholar is studying at IHE-Delft at this time. All is going well. 3-May-19 by Steve Brown updated interim report has been prepared for TRF and is out for authorizations 16-Jul-19 by Pam Russell Nawid is studying in Oregon at OSU and should complete his studies before the end of the year. 2-Oct-19 by Pam Russell Nawid had to go to France to complete his studies. He is working on his thesis and handling the rest of the courses online. 16-Dec-19 by Steve Brown Funds have been used to support Afghan Scholar Nawid Rasooly in the Joint Program for Water Cooperation and Diplomacy.
