Qortada is a village of 80 houses that were destroyed during the Lebanese war 1975-1990.
The war was between ethnic groups, and in order to stop the differences and unite the youth with different religions,RC Beirut Cedars would like to help build a sport court in the poor village to enhance the interaction between the youth of the village and the youth of the surrounding villages.creating a multi cultural and multi ethnic surrounding.
It will prevent the youth of the area from indulging in suspicious activities(as drugs or steeling ,or gangs activity and fighting,)and will keep them in their villages.
It will create a fellowship and encourage the youth to come back to their village and repopulate it.It will create activities in the village to avoid conflicts and gang confrontations, creating an atmosphere of fellowship and camaraderie.
The municipality will assure the sustainability of the project by appointing a trainer who will be in charge of the facility and it will also assure the maintenance of the court.RC Beirut Cedars members will be following up on the matter.
The village is on the international road so the Rotary sign that we intend to post at the entrance of the village, stating our achievements, will give us good exposure, and enhance the image of Rotary.
This sport court will be the only one serving around 10 villages and around 500 people.
