BACKGROUND
Kanungu is a district located in South-western Uganda, has a population that is estimated to be 220,000; of these, at least 2% is suffering from a physical disability of one way or another ranging from missing limbs, eyes and crippled legs, arms, victims of stroke, polio, road accidents, all categorized according to both the cause of physical disability as well as the nature of the disability itself.
This project there seeks to solicit for financial and material support to enable the disabled fit in our community without being traumatized.
Our project intends to concentrate on MOBILITY IMPAIRMENT as a form of physical disability. This type of disability includes upper limb disability, manual dexterity and disability in co-ordination with different organs of the body. Disability in mobility can either be a congenital or acquired with age problem. This problem could also be the consequence of some disease. People who have a broken skeletal structure also fall into this category of disability.
This project if funded with provide mobility gadgets/devices to persons who are impaired in movement to enable them interact and participate in community activities. We as Club members will contribute all the human resource needed in training, community sensitisation and transport to enable these gadgets/devices reach the targeted persons in Kanungu district.
We expect to carry out this noble cause in a period of 24 months. That's JANUARY 2014-DECEMBER 2015.
