Objectives
To Provide Wheel Chairs to 1000 eligible children/person.
There are about 70 million disabled people in India. One in every ten children or 3% of the country's total child population also falls in this category. The government itself admits that of the total disabled population, only 2% are educated and 1% employed. Yet, no great effort is being made to give physically challenged people a better world.
Here its Rotary Clubs chance to support disabled people. Give employment opportunities to the handicapped and enable them to lead an independent life. Just a small gift of a hearing aid, wheelchair, tricycle or Braille kit will make a big difference.
As from a research conducted in our Rotary district, its identified that around 1000 wheel chairs are urgently needed for those who are really unable to buy it because of financial problems. The actual requirement is much more, but this 1000 as a first step will help the most needy people to get some relief in their life.
Rotary club of Manjeri would like to take a lead in the project. There are 99 clubs in the district. If each of the club contribute 10 Wheel chairs, there will be around 1000 Wheel Chairs.
Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment
The eligible children are selected carefully from the applications received to club and identifying areas where the wheel chairs are required like pain and palliative clinics, orphanages, hospitals etc.
Each of the supported clubs should make sure that the wheel chairs are gong to the required hands.
There will be an audit after the delivery of the wheel chairs in every 1 year for 3 years.
What we are looking for?
We are looking for an International Partner (either a club or a District) for our Project.
