The Project is to install Solar LED street lighting systems in the villages. There are many common areas in the villages that are still not having any streetlights. It is either because of no electricity or lack of resources. The darkness restricts the movement of the village residents and leads to accidents. The project would provide eco-friendly, cost effective outdoor lighting solution resulting in reduction of carbon footprints.
The proposal is to cover approximately 40 villages by installing 225 Solar LED lights in villages on common roads/areas. The approximate beneficiaries would be more than 5000 families. The Solar street lights would be procured from the government agency that will also install the lights. Besides, the same agency will maintain the lights for five years. After that period, the beneficiary village panchayats (local bodies) will maintain/repair the lights. This project is also eligible for 30% subsidy under the scheme of Government of India. The Rotarians will visit the various villages to identify the areas and would personally be available at the time of installation.
