In Allahabad District, North India, more than 50% of girls in rural areas drop out of school after class 8th as most small villages have schools only till class 8th. The main reason behind the drop out is lack of transport facilities through which they can travel to nearby villages/towns where higher classes are available. While the well off families buy cycles for their daughters, the transport costs deter poor rural families from sending their girls to school, which leads in discontinuation of their education.
By providing 1000 cycles for village girls who are trying to complete their education, it will lead to both economic development and improvement in basic education and literacy of the district. This will elevate the girls of the village, lead them to be independent & Successful, and be released from poverty and depression.
Total budget of USD 50000 has been proposed for the project as each cycle will cost USD 50 and one thousand cycles are proposed to be purchased. The cycles are planned to be distributed within four months from the commencement date of the project.
Responsibility for distribution will be divided amongst all the clubs within Allahabad district. They also have to assure that the cycles are to be distributed to only those girls who have enrolled themselves into primary education and have already cleared 4th standard.
