Project Description Region: Asia Country: India Location: Allahabad Total Budget: $50,000 Area of Focus: Community economic development There is a large no of Unemployed women in RID 3120 due to a significant population of them being uneducated. These poor housewives have to sustain their families on meagre incomes of their husbands. There is also a large number of destitute and widows who do not have any means of livelihood and have to beg for living. RID 3120 will take a step towards improving this situation by providing 500 sewing machines and vocational training to them in the field of sewing, so that they can start a tailoring set up at their homes and earn their livelihood. The whole project will cost USD 50000 (five hundred machine into USD 100 per machine). Machines would be purchased and distributed and vocational training imparted within five months from project commencement date. The responsibility of distributing and vocational training would be spread across 24 clubs of RID 3120. They will also ensure the maintenance of the sewing machines over the period of time.
