Proposal Form

According to WHO 2012, Jamaica with a population of approximately 2.6 million has 45,000 live births taking place each year.It is globally documented that 8 out of every 1000 children each year will have CHD and this translates to a minimum of 360 children born each year in Jamaica alone with CHD.When adding the birth statistics of all of District 7020 the number increases substantially. With the completion, training and testing of the new Pediatric Cath lab. by October 2014 (a sustainable, high quality Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and Aftercare Program ),children will no longer have to be transported to an adult hospital elsewhere in the city where access and funds are limited because of the adult cases taking priority. We propose to support the funding for approximately 24 surgeries for the inaugural group of children who are waiting for us to save their lives. The host club in District 7020 has already been involved in the project for several years and is anxious to support our efforts. The incoming District Governor in 7020 Dr. Paul Brown, with whom we have met personally has enthusiastically endorsed our project and pledged the support of his district -7020.
