THE SPECIALITIES OF GOAT MILK

Goat's milk is considered to be the closest milk to breast milk in terms of protein and fat. It is a good source of nutrients. It accelerates growing up children ıt is easy to digest. From goat's milk, cheese, yoghurt, butter, cheddar cheese are made. Manufacturers of ice-cream, cheese, infant formula preferably seek goat's milk. The fat rate is 3,5-4 %. It is sold 3-4 times the price of cow's milk in the market. There is no shortage of marketing.

THE SPECIALITIES OF SAANEN GOATS

1) It is not a goat pasture. It can be fed without grazing in the field of indoor space and outdoor places or in an unused enclosed places. Management and administration, care and feding and milking is easy. The milk yield is reduced when they are released into over large areas or into the forest.

2) It allows easy adoptation to different climatic and environmental conditions and it is durable.

3) It can provide milk 250 to 300 days if you feed it well, during this time it can be milked up to 900 kg milk in a year.

4) Its weight is 50-55 kg (sometimes ıt can be max 75 kg) meat quality is high.

5) Saanen Goats which are called as Alpes Goats, too are fed commonly in Switzerland and Sweeden. It gets common in our country. In Bolu areas, there is a big and nice farm where the Saanen Goats are going to be bought from. We will buy from like these farm.

6) Saanen Goats' milk productivity lasts 8-10 months in a year (900 kg) but local hair goats' milk productivity lasts 4-5 months and they can be milked only 100 kg milk.

7) Their pregnancy periods are 5 months or 145-155 days long. They can be infertile in a rate of 5%.

8) In last 2 months of their pregnancy they must be fed well, they must not be given the food which causes them to bloat, they must not move fast and they must be prevented from coldness and wetness.

9) In West July-August, in East September-October are their copulation months.

10) Their feed stocks decreases because their last pregnancy periods comes to the winter. Nutritional conditions get worse. Consequently goats may get weak, tired, can not grow up. Because of mother's milk level's littleness, yeanling deaths increases. To avoid this situation, it is needed to measure the feed stocks well. In this period a well-yeaning applied nutrition regularity will help to decrease deaths and to increase milk productivity, and also it will cover expenses.

11) In every birth, if 2 baby goats are tended well, the number of goats will increase.

12) Farmers can use their own fodder plants. The goats can spread below the hazelnut trees. In some seasons of the year hazelnuts should be wed off to clean the plant cover. It's been wed off twice a year because it's rainy area. İf the goats spread in those areas, there won't be need to weed off, and at same time goat's muck will affect as fertilizer. This spread will help the growth of hazelnuts and the feding of the goats.

13) Costs of animal productions' portions of 70-80% constitute feding expenses. The way to decrease the feding epenses is to produce the feeds, herb, fodder etc.

14) We should see alla nimals as a expensive machine. These animals represent a well-developed, milk and pregnancy productivity improved race.

15) Their fertilizers cost a lot of Money. But it should not be used much. The goat muck should be given less.

16) They give birth every yer. There can be 3 births in 2 year. But we shouldn't maket he animals tired much. They may get weak so the ideas is one birth in a year.

17) One male goat s enough for 18-20 female goats. If the newborn goat is male and if there is no need for a male goat, it can be sold after tending. It's a yeanling organization.

18) It's also known as the cow of the poor.

THE PROGRESS OF THE PROJECT

In the first step, 20 families will be given 5 goats per familiy. Sum of the female goats which will be given are 100, additional 8 male goats will be given which matches 100 female goats. In this period families will be educated about feeding the goats, milking, stocking the milk, cleaning the goat, productivity, pregnancy, feding the yealdings and the care. This education will be given by the veterinerian of Gürgentepe municipality Aynur AKAR and the Rotarian veterinerian Murat TANRIVERDİ. After the consent of the Project all the goats will be followed by a card, and will be interfered if necessary. Families will feed and look after the goats in their own farms. The mayor of Gürgentepe has given aprroval to follow the growing the goats and to support the project.

The most important issue is selling the milk well. In the following steps, it can be needed a refrigeration and stocking tank.

We prefer looking after the goats at first in a sheepfold by a keper. Later the families may look after their own goats.

After 2 years we will take one of the goats from its family and by the drawing give it to another family. The families will promise about giving back the goats. At the beginning, selling of the milk can be done for he cheese factory in area. But the organizations such as selling and presenting the goat milk and milk products will be done by the municipality of Gürgentepe in Ordu. Ordu Rotary Club will also contribute this organization. For his purpose municipality of Gürgentepe will rent a saloon or they are going to hold down in a sponsorship. They will give a written consent.

In the second and third steps, bigger managements can be established, economic contribution can increase. To continue the Project, this kind of attempts will be discussed in the meetings. Thus the immigration from county side to the cities people prevented. Even from the the cities people may immigrate. Because at the end of the second and third step economical activities and incomes may increase.
