Project Description Region: Western Europe Country: Turkey Location: Mersin Total Budget: $42,792 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment MERSIN ROTARY CLUB's HUMANITARIAN GLOBAL GRANT PROJECT "Helping educable and learnable low-grade mentally disabled students in Special Education School by donating Smart Board and equip them with Sewing Workshop in Mezitli / Mersin" The Rotary Club of Mersin/D: 2430 decided to initialize a Global Grant Project in the Rotary year 2014-2015. This project aims educable mentally retarded students in a new established School. Mersin Province is at the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea in southern Turkey. Our city has five schools for educable low-grade mentally disabled students. All of these schools belong to the Ministry of Education. According to research conducted by the Disabled Department of Administration, the 12.29 per cent of the population of Turkey's accounted for disabled. The project school established at 2012 and is new. The school' has twelve classes and has four workshops. In this school there are 79 low-grade mentally disabled students. They are between 15-22 ages. These students are 31 girls and 48 boys. The school has 19 teachers and three administrators. School classes and workshops lack educational tools. There are no any tools that can help to facilitate education of those disabilities at classes and workshops. Dear Rotarian friends; to facilitate the life of the mental disabilities there are many things we can do. Every individual is precious; in order to gain him, if necessary, we should be done everything. In this project, our main goal is: Development of the power of concentration and the capacity of attention. Organization of one's ideas around a central idea. By educating mentally disabled students, we make their life better and ensure the continuation of their life with their families and their communities to be happy. On the other hand, they will take better education and will be trained by workshop. We decided to donate 12 Smart Board System with Laptop and projection to help by education in the classes. And one Sewing Workshop equipped by twenty sewing machines. We need your help for this project. Please share with us and support this humanitarian project.
