Maintaining menstrual hygiene is very important. Menstruation is seen as the taboos in Nepal. Proper menstrual hygiene management is one of the most important and basic aspects of feminine health that is unfortunately neglected in Nepal. Policy-makers in Nepal have cited menstruation and lack of sanitary products as barriers to girls' schooling. Menstruation is the major contributing factor in absenteeism and poor academic performance among schoolgirls. Girls often remain absent and drop out of schools because of bad sanitation facilities in schools. Many girls remain absent for 4 days a month during their menstruation cycle. Menstrual hygiene issues have received attention from the water, sanitation, and hygiene sector as well as from the reproductive health sector in the country.
