Project Description: To promote Literacy in rural and tribal areas by providing E-Learning Module through Smartboards in four schools of Gandevi area.

We are planning to sponsor a new Global Grant in the current year. As

all of you are aware that The Rotary Foundation has adopted Literacy

as its another Global Project after Polio, we are going to sponsor our

Global Grant to promote the Literacy by providing E- learning

Facilities through Smartboards in our schools.

Need:

With the new SMART Board 480 interactive whiteboard, every student can experience

the benefits of hands-on, interactive learning. This easy-to-use, touch-sensitive interactive.

whiteboard combines quality and affordability. It enables teachers and students to interact

with lesson content in a natural way using either their finger or a pen.

The SMART Board 480 interactive whiteboard is an ideal introduction to digital learning.

It offers natural touch functionality, which makes it easy for students and teachers to use

and will help enable quick and successful adoption. The interactive whiteboard connects

to a computer and projector. From their computer, teachers can display and interact with

lesson content on the interactive surface, and can control applications and write notes

using either their finger or a pen.

With the 480, teachers can easily present dynamic lessons that will engage every

student no matter what their learning style. By adding vibrant images and videos,

teachers can make lessons more appealing to visual learners. They can also add handson

activities for kinesthetic learners, use sound to engage auditory learners and offer

students with special needs more effective ways to manipulate information.

Like all SMART Board interactive whiteboards, the 480 is part of a comprehensive

solution that includes support, professional development, classroom content and

a community of peers. It comes with SMART Notebook™ collaborative learning

software, which makes it easy for teachers to create and manage digital lessons.

And they can access free, ready-to-use educational resources, including thousands

of standards-correlated SMART Notebook lesson activities, anytime on the SMART

Exchange™ website.

The product offers both finger-and pen-touch functionality to engage students and enhance interactive learning.

SMART Notebook Software: The Notebook software collaborative learning software sets the standard for creating, delivering and managing interactive lessons within a single application. It puts all lesson material right at the user fingertips. Using the software user can access word games, quizzes, thousands of image, flash files, videos and learning objects. Using the software we can record the lesson then the recorded lesson can be emailed on a single click. All the mathematical tools are available within the software.

SMART Exchange: The e-class needs study material and to facilitate the teachers smart has a special web site which is free to use. Anyone can register and can download or upload the study material from 65000 lessons.

At present, only few Smartboards are installed in our schools. They are in need of many more.

Financial parameters of the project is as under:

We intend to provide 20 Smartboards under this endeavor.

The cost of one Smartboard is INR 125,000, which includes:

===INSTALLATION, TRANSPORT AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS CHARGES

So, the total cost of the GG project would be INR 125,000*20= INR 2,500,000

i.e US $ 41,670.

.Rotary Club Gandevi will be the Host Club. Rotarians of our club are in constant liaison with all the four schools as we have adopted these schools under the Literacy Project. A special committee will be formed which will implement, supervise and evaluate the Project.Funds will be used with utmost stewardship and regular reporting will be done.
