Project Description

Region: Central America

Country: Honduras

Location: Santa Barbara

Total Budget: $30,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

This proposal arises from the need to provide high school student with confortable chair to receibe clasess. The goal is to provide desks for Santa Barbara City area Students.

The students to be beneficiaries are from Instituto Tecnico Eulogio Galeano Trejo. It is the biggest technical high school in town. More than a thousand students attent classe there. The majority of these students come from very poor families. Some od the students have to work during the day to go to school from fiive to ten at night.

The state supports such public institutions but such support it is not enough to supply the school with student's desks. So it is a need to provide this high school with the means to carry on a proyect to renew the desks. The coverage includes also to provide teachers with desks and chairs.

The Rotary Club may provide the funding. The labor will be done by the high school students. The amount needed is $ 30,000.00 Ten thousand U.S. dollars

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
