Project Description

Region: Asia

Country: India

Location: Gurgaon

Total Budget: $50,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

The Project will provide Green, Renewable power by exploiting the solar energy radiated from the sun to 5 village schools in the Aravalli area.

We propose to install a Solar PV solution on 5 Village Schools in Aravalli Villages, Gurgaon at rooftop for providing power to schools due to poor power availability in the area and achieving greater energy security with a green initiative. The proposal for installing the solar PV project at the school building as follows -

A 5 kWp System has been proposed for each of the 5 schools.

Presented proposal is for Off -Grid Connected Solar Rooftop system of 5 KWp capacity which has been derived from inputs received on Electrical Load distribution pattern and roof space available

Due to non-availability of power all these initiatives have been rendered useless. Being located in the villages, the schools are only able to get power supply for 3-4 hours a day and that too during night hours.

By making a one time investment in solar energy with practically no recurring expenditure thereafter, we propose to make the schools more productive and truly serve the purpose that they have been established for.

Literacy is one of main focus areas of Rotary and our club has been supporting the Villages in Aravalli area since past 5 years with the support of our interact club. We have setup Computer Labs, Library, Health & Sanitation facilities at these villages. Our club has recently set-up Solar Plants in 2 village schools in the same area in May 2015 as a showcase project.

This project will permit uninterrupted power supply to the school, laboratory, teaching aids besides saving on energy, avoid pollution and provide savings in cost. This renewable energy will also enable the school to concentrate its expenses on building other facilities that will enhance the education delivery. This project will bring about awareness to the future leaders about the need for addressing the energy crisis that can occur due to depleting resources.
