Total Budget: $99,460

The project aims to increase the capacity of human milk bank to supply the needs of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Hospital São Paulo, with the procurement, processing and distribution of human milk. Thirty liters of human milk are captured per month, which allows it to offer pasteurized milk to 35 premature newborns. The proposal will allow an increase of 100% of the supply of human milk. It is known that breast milk contains nutrients in quality and quantity necessary to provide a proper development of the child, and the only food able to respond adequately to the physiological needs of the metabolism of infants. Continued breastfeeding during the first year of life can prevent one every 7.5 infant deaths.
