We the Rotarians of Rotary Club of Bombay North West Malad are extremely proud to share our journey of twelve years while treating the preventable blindness at our L. M. Patel Rotary Eye Hospital in Mumbai. We are grateful to the Rotary world for helping us and sharing our common cause of blindness control. Special thanks to our partner clubs - RC of Plymouth and RC of Wilmet and of course the RI for helping us raise USD 150,000 in the year 2000. Today we boast of having a well established tertiary Eye Care Centre in the western suburbs of Mumbai city. In these time period we have successfully treated more than 200,000 outdoor patients and performed 15,000 eye related surgeries.
Due to ever increasing work load and modernization of the diagnostic as well as operative instruments, we are compelled to upgrade the hospital infrastructure. Hence we are once again asking you to join us in arranging finances so that the burden is not passed on to the patients who are mainly coming from lower socioeconomic group. Our requirement is 150,000 USD. Our own host club members are generous enough to contribute regularly by sponsoring surgical treatment of various kinds in all these years.
My fellow Rotarians, RCBNWM is requesting you to come forward to help us by partnering the humanitarian project . More details of the hospital can be availed from our web site www.rotarybombaynorthwest.org.
India is declared the capital of Diabetes. Diabetic Retinopathy - a blinding complication of uncontrolled disease is alarmingly increasing. It is becoming a leading cause of preventable blindness. Early diagnosis can prevent the blindness.
The hospital badly needs Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine and related operative instruments along with Corneal Topography Machine to identify early corneal blinding conditions.
We appeal the rotary clubs across the world to come forward to be our partner by generous contribution to avail the matching grant from the RI.
