Project Description Region: Asia Country: India Location: Dhira Total Budget: $37,000 Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene This project is being envisaged for Village Dhira in district Gurdaspur by RC Batala.This village is inhabited by 300 poor families living below government set poverty lines.This project aims to construct 135 soak toilets with per-fabricated top and also provide clean drinking water to these inhabitants by installing an industrial reverse osmosis plant.Lack of toilets leads to disease and pollution.It also deprives the inhabitants of personal dignity and leads to sexual harassment of women.40% of diseases in India are water borne and the R.O.plant will ensure that this incidence is minimized.The project intends to undertake training of villagers in personal hygiene.
