Project Description

Region: South-East Asia

Country: Cambodge

Location: Battambang

Total Budget: $49,900

Areas of Focus: Basic education and literacy, Community economic development

The Next Greneration Initiative's (NGI) main goal is to improve profossional employment opportunities for the most at-risk and vulnerable rural Cambodian youth.

The following three objectives will dramatically help realize this goal:

1- 90% of graduates attein higher education or salaried job within a year after finishing private or public school education.

2- 75% of graduates obtain employment paying higher than the national average

3- 75% of graduates have the skills to design a community action plan

The following final products will result from this project

1- Researched and tested Cambodian-based NGI curricula and extensive training manual

2- Plan for scaling the NGI to local schools and non-governmental organizations, potentially as revenue-generating program.

3- Student capstone projects that exhibit their ability to identify community challanges and implement innovative solutions.

The members of the RC Nyon will be actively informed and paricipate in actions to raise funds for the project. The project committee will work directly with the Children's Future Intenational Organization, who manage the project and the infrastructure in Battambang. The relation with this organization is already established since 2011 and two of our members have already visited the site.

The RC Phnom Penh will act as the Primary Host partner for the project.

We will be glad to provide the detailed outline and budget for the project, which is already completed.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
