Cervical cancer is the first cancer for African women by it's frequency. It's a sexually transmitted infection.
According to WHO, in 2005 in the world, it has led more than 250 000 deaths, of which nearly 80% in developing countries.
In Burkina Faso, the screening centers and treatment of precancerous lesions ultérin cervical cancer exist in major cities. Screening activities undertaken by centers have shown that 7-10% of clients are carriers of precancerous lesions that require management to prevent invasive cancer.
However, many women, especially those living in rural areas, have no access to these services.
This is why the Stop Cancer Project Burkina Col wants to improve access to the collar of the uterus cancer prevention by:
- Improving the detection and treatment of precancerous lesions routine;
the establishment of a mobile team for the screening and treatment of precancerous lesions.
The project goal is: to contribute to cervical cancer prevention in Burkina Faso
