At present there is always a shortage of water due to outages of the municipal supply pipelines bursting and during these times no washing can take place and drinking water has to be obtained from a water truck many kilometers away. The village home looks after 45 children between 1 and 19 years who are either orphans and other vulnerable children ravaged by HIV/AIDS and there are approximately 20 full time staff plus volunteers. The implementation of the water harvesting in water usage payment to the local Municipality. These funds will be utilized to pay for maintenance as well providing extra funds for the management of the Home. The project will also insure that during times of water shortage/breakdowns the children will have a constant supply of water.
