The benefiting community is the poor people living in the rural areas of Tehsil Bishnah .The Mata Amar Dei Memorial Rotary Eye Hospital is being established at Village Raya ( Chandan Nagar ) in District Samba , Jammu & Kashmir state , India Through MADMR Eye Hospital trust, A Charitable organization 2. What community needs have been identified? If the activity is a scholarship, enter "N/A". The inhabitants of this rural area are very poor and cannot afford the costly eye treatment in nearby cities. This facility shall be made in a central place for the cluster of Villages of the area 3. How are these needs currently being addressed with local resources and/or government agencies, NGOs, etc.? Currently people travel to nearby cities like Jammu / Pathankote where Government t/ Private hospitals are available for such eye treatments which is otherwise quite expensive for these poor people to afford. 1. Mata amardevi memorial Rotary Eye Hospital is being established at Chandan Nagar Raya about 20 kilometre from Jammu City , J & K ( India ) . The land for the Hospital has been donated by a Rotarian and the structure (Building) has been completed with the help of other Rotarians and the civil society of the Jammu who contributed both in kind and cash. In order to commission the said eye hospital, certain hospital and Theatre equipments including instrument are required for which the matching grant is sought through this proposal as detailed at section “F Budget. “ In india , 80 % of the population lives in the Rural Area where adequate medical facilities do not exist particularly in the ophthalmology ( Eye )discipline with the result that about million people are blind from cataract alone which is otherwise treatable provided proper eye care centers are available nearby . This proposed hospital in the rural area is a step in the right direction to prevent the blindness and timely treatment to the beneficiaries for long term benefits. The poor people in and around the Village Chandan Nagar ( Raya ) cannot afford the costly eye treatments in big cities resulting in numerous miseries and agonies they suffer in their lifetime. This hospital being a Charitable institution shall be run on no profit / no loss basis so as to provide affordable eye treatment to the poor beneficiaries and in certain cases, free treatment shall also be provided to the people living below the poverty line, 2. The immediate treatment shall be given to the people and save them from blindness/ other complication in the long term. 2. Explain how all involved parties will act to ensure the sustainability of the activity(ies) and/or outcomes. The involved parties shall ensure the sustainability of the hospital by running it on no profit / no loss basis.
