The community of Araxá, estimated at 170,000 inhabitants, and seven other smaller towns in its area of influence, having doctors are the Poles as Araxá beneficiaries of this global grant.

Reduction in the wait queue to perform scheduled surgery for patients with low income and beneficiaries of the health system, the micro-region of Araxá.

Today, the Holy House is the only hospital in town, service provider of unified Health System, representing on average 80% of hospitalizations per month.

The Santa Casa is in a micro-region of health, taking into account the municipalities of Araxá, Campos Altos, Ibiá, partridges, Pedrinópolis, Pratinha, Santa Juliana and Tapira, adding 170,000 inhabitants.

On average, 460 hospitalizations per month, being 80% SUS and 20% of covenants and individuals. The occupation average is 35% in Pediatrics; 45% on Motherhood; 62% in surgery; 75% in internal medicine and 95% in the ICU.

The basic needs of the community are public economic and social level, needy people, without income to defray health expenses and surgeries, by SUS-unified Health System of the Federal Government. Are identified by the huge queues in programming of surgeries, not counting the urgencies and emergencies waiting for a reduction in the wait queue to perform scheduled surgery for patients with low income and beneficiaries of the health system, the micro-region of Araxá.

The Surgical Center of Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Araxá, philanthropic Institution, with head office at Praça Dr. Ayres Maneira 19-Centro-CEP: 38,183-148-Araxá-Minas Gerais - Brazil.

As General Hospital has the national establishment of Health/Ministry of health no. 2164620, Surgical clinics; Obstetric; Pediatric; Internal medicine and Adult intensive care. Has 82 (82) active beds and preparing to deploy 10 new ICU beds, 10 Adult Neonatal/Pediatric ICU beds, 15 beds of Chemotherapy and palliative care beds 05.

The Global grant will finance the purchase of equipment for the Surgical Center of Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Araxá, in order to offer better conditions to surgical patients and doctors, achieving greater security and reliability to the health and life of patients, and ensuring greater availability of 04 four operating rooms.

The upgrade of equipment is that ensures the realization of safe surgical procedure, avoiding complications and perioperative data accidents.

It was made a survey among staff and users of the hospital.

The Project already aligns the local activity in progress.

The assessment will be measured via the patient satisfaction, the team of professionals who work in the operating room; quality standard according to health surveillance; the evidence of patient safety with low content of hospital infection, etc.

Increase the number of surgeries performed for the Sistema Único de Saúde – SUS from the federal Government, for low-income population. In the period from January to September/2016 were performed an average of 224 surgeries. After installation and suitability of new equipment, expand to 300 surgeries per month, both scheduled as the emergency focused on programmed to avoid aggravation and surgical complications.

1. What will be the immediate and long-term outcomes of the activity(ies).
