I will be pursuing a MSc in Health and International Development at the London School of Economics. After completing that, I will return to finish my last year of medical school and apply to pediatric residency programs for my training. I intend to apply to specific Global Health + Pediatric programs so that I may continue to work both in the US and abroad use both the skills and knowledge from my masters and my medical knowledge to help communities and patients. In the future, once done with training, I intend to work both in the US and abroad within a few different cities in areas I have developed strong ties with. I plan to work through NGO or private organizations in the future and serve in both medical and advisory capacities to ensure the quality of international health is adequate and identify areas and methods of improvement. My education at LSE will be on courses around healthcare, poverty, and inequality so that I will be better prepared to tackle these problems in the real healthcare world once in residency and gain firsthand experience implementing problem solving healthcare strategies while interning at a UK nonprofit during a semester of school. These courses will push me to read, dissect, and analyze economic growth patterns and healthcare management in various countries and viewpoints. This will allow me to publish research in the future and make the most of existing data.

2. Please list any cooperating organization(s) or university(ies) involved in the proposed activity(ies).

2. Please describe how the activity(ies) will address the goal(s) of the area(s) or focus.

My chosen program of study, The MSc in Health and International Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), centers specifically on the study of health, inequality, and poverty. As economics is the specialty of The London School of Economics, I plan to take a course in Healthcare Economics and Economic Development to gain a better understanding of how funding is created and best used to support sustainable local, national, and international projects. In addition, I plan to take more courses like Poverty and Health Issues in Low/Middle income Countries. This program allows students an opportunity to tailor their second semester courses in various topics related to International Development. In addition, I will be able to complete a consultant project during the second semester and gain real-life experience working with an NGO or private company on global health and advisory issues.

All courses, and the resulting education I receive, will manifest in promoting health and limiting the spread and rise of disease in communities both in the US and abroad. My education at LSE will provide me a broad knowledge about international health development, and in combination with my medical training and clinical experience, I plan to work both abroad and in the US to improve access to quality of healthcare. With an education from LSE focused on better understanding how poverty is created, and how it leads to various inequalities and health disparities, I will be more equipped to analyze existing community programs and work to improve them to allow members of communities to reach their health potential. This is the perfect experience to supplement my medical training and clinical education, and I am confident that the experience will allow me to impact my future communities in meaningful and measurable ways.

Section E: Project Outcomes

1. What will be the immediate and long-term outcomes of the activity(ies).

My "project" is the Master of Science program, so my immediate and longterm outcomes are related to that and my duties as a GGS:

1) complete orientation and course registration

2) complete my classes in a satisfactory manor

3) participate in all school related events and experiences to their full extent- including the completion of an internship with a UK based organization

4) graduate from the program on-time and with satisfactory grades

5) participate in local and international Rotary events- Misbourne Matins meetings and service events, international convention if in the UK, and London club events

6) gain a great understanding and appreciation for Rotary history, events, and projects and complete outreach programs on behalf of Global Grant Scholarship and Rotary International

Longterm goals in medicine/healthcare and service:

-educating local communities about preventing diseases

-limiting the spread of disease

-enhance healthcare infrastructure of international healthcare communities

-supporting other individuals in their desire to pursue healthcare studies, healthcare practice, and education in general

2. Explain how all involved parties will act to ensure the sustainability of the activity(ies) and/or outcomes.

Both clubs and all members will support me financially (to the extent of the scholarship) and keep in contact with me to ensure that I am meeting collective goals, presenting about what I am learning, and taking part in Rotary activities while abroad.
