What are the main objectives of the project, and who will benefit from it? REHABILITATION OF WILD BIRDS- MEDICAL Equipment's FOR BIRD HOSPITAL. Coimbatore lies in the foot hills of Nilgiri bio-sphere reserve of western Ghats (a world bio diversity heritage site). More than 400 species of birds are documented from this region. Due to rapid urbanization and human interference many birds are getting affected. Birds hits by vehicles habitat of a large number of species of Birds, such as Peafowl, parakeets. Some of these birds get injured and require treatment. To treat and rehabilitate these birds, our club is proposing to set up a fully equipped bird hospital in Coimbatore, which will be one of its kind in the whole of South India. Humanitarian Projects - Project Planning Describe the community needs that your project will address. It will help the threatened birds community of western Ghats thereby stabilizing the ecological balance. How did your project team identify these needs. we were approached by Animal rescuers, a voluntary animal rescue organization who are actively involved in field rescue and rehabilitation for setting up a bird hospital to cater to the increasing numbers of injured birds. How were members of the benefiting community involved in finding solutions. NA How were community members involved in planning the project. The community members too felt a need for having a bird hospital in this region considering the bird fatalities and Coimbatore being a biological hot spot location.
